Frequently Asked Questions

Is SpinAName free to use?

Yes, SpinAName is completely free. We support the site through minimal advertising.

Do you store the names I enter?

Not in normal use. Names you type are kept in your browser's local storage on your own device and are never sent to us. The one exception is a live QR Session: names that joiners submit pass through our server so they can appear on the host's screen and the stream overlay.

Can I use this for my classroom?

Absolutely! Many teachers use our tools to pick students or group them in a fun, engaging way.

How does SpinAName’s random picking work?

Every draw uses your browser's built-in cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), so each entry has the same chance and no draw is influenced by the one before it. In normal use the pick happens on your device. In a live QR Session the winner is drawn on our server with the same kind of generator, so the host's screen and the stream overlay land on the same name.

Can I use SpinAName on social media for content creation?

Yes, absolutely! You are free to use SpinAName for your YouTube videos, TikToks, live streams, or any other content. We love seeing our tool in action!

How can I use the spin wheel or random wheel for giveaways and events?

You can easily use our spin the wheel tool as a lucky draw randomizer for various events. Simply enter your participant list, select the random wheel mode or other game styles you prefer, and click the start button. The system processes the draw completely randomly (100% fair), ensuring transparency and excitement. It is perfect for live stream giveaways, marketing campaigns, or family games.

Does the system support bulk entry for random name picking?

Yes, our website is highly optimized to support bulk copy-pasting of hundreds of names without lagging. You can copy your student list or participant roster and paste it directly into the input box. Our random name selector also features a Fast Random mode to select multiple winners instantly, and you can save and manage your lists to make future random draws even quicker.

How secure and reliable is the online random picker on SpinAName?

Your lists stay in your browser unless you start a live QR Session, and every draw uses a cryptographic random number generator rather than a predictable formula. We also check fairness with a chi-squared test over 100,000 simulated draws to confirm that each name wins about equally often. It works well for number draws, lucky draws, and any other random selection.
